BLACK CHURCH PAC RELEASES TWO MOBILIZING MUSIC EPs TO IGNITE VOTER TURNOUT IN 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Prominent faith leaders, music heavyweights and notable social activists unite over culture, faith and music to ignite a movement and drive “Souls to the Polls” this November.
(LOS ANGELES) OCTOBER XX, 2024: The Black Church PAC is turning up the volume on voter engagement for the 2024 presidential election with a unique movement-building initiative that blends culture, activism, and music to reach every corner of the Black community! In partnership with My Block Records, Universal Music Group and Live Nation Urban, the Black Church PAC is proud to announce the release of For Such a Time as This (Anthems for Liberation and Justice) and Or Else — two soul-stirring EPs curated to motivate voter registration and participation. Designed to resonate with both faith-based and hip-hop communities, the mini-albums tap the universal language of music to ignite civic action and urgency with voters to make their voices heard this November.
Pastor Mike McBride, co-founder and executive director of Black Church PAC, explains the mission behind the two musical offerings: “We are standing at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history, and these albums are part of our mission to awaken, engage and inspire the culture. Music has always been a powerful force for change, and we are simply using it to amplify our message and sound the alarm of urgency for our community to stand up and be counted on election day.”
Warryn Campbell, producer and CEO of My Block Records shares, “It has been a long time coming to work with Pastor Mike to create inspirational music for our movements. This project blends the best in gospel, soul and hip hop culture to remind us how powerful our culture and our spirit are when fused for good.
Tracklist Highlights Include:
“Keep On” – Charles Jenkins
“Healing” – Common Hymnal
“Too Long” – MC Lyte & Anthony Hamilton
“One Happy Day” – Erica Campbell
“Black Don’t Crack” – Lecrae, Good Luck, Zaya Monique
“Brother Bill (Hallelujah)” – The Soul Seekers
“For Such a Time as This draws on the rich tradition of gospel music as a vehicle for social change, much like the songs that fueled the civil rights movement of the 1960s,” shares Shelly [INSERT NAME AND TITLE]. “Just as ‘We Shall Overcome’ inspired a generation to march for justice, these songs are a rallying call for today’s voters to step into their civic power.”
If faith is the soul of the movement, hip-hop is its pulse. The Or Else EP, born from the Black Church PAC’s “Vote or Else” campaign, speaks directly to the hip-hop generation, merging music and political activism to energize and mobilize underserved communities. Produced by industry legends like Helluva, Havoc (Mobb Deep), and Playa Haze, Or Else delivers five tracks that reflect the weight of the moment and the power of hip-hop to shape the future of democracy.
“Hip-hop has always been the voice of the people,” said Pastor Mike McBride, who serves as one of the executive producers alongside Marvin Bing (Mobilize Justice), Chace Infinite, and Quality Control’s Wayne “Wayno” Clark. “With 'Or Else,' we are using that voice to remind the world that our vote is our power. This EP isn’t just some rap tracks on a mixtape—it’s a full soundtrack of lived experiences and futures hoped for, and one that we believe will bring us together this November to change tomorrow for us all.”
The lead single “Still Here”—featuring Benny The Butcher, Freeway, Black Thought, Jay Electronica, Metal Feet and Jotaka Eaddy (Win With Black Women) —sets the tone for the EP, delivering a message of resilience, survival, and civic responsibility, and proving that the cultural pulse of the streets can lead people straight to the polls.
The EP also features a dynamic lineup of artists, including: Symba, Boldy James, Miles Minnick, Jay Electronica, Benny The Butcher, Black Thought, Pusha T, Styles P, Icewear Vezzo, Rick Williams, Westside Boogie, Bun B, and Baby Money.
Both For Such a Time as This and Or Else EPs fall under a wider effort fueled by a special partnership between the Black Church PAC and Live Nation Urban. The partnership leverages the highly-anticipated "The Reunion Tour" featuring Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, Yolanda Adams, and The Clark Sisters, as an opportunity to bring the spirit of civic engagement into spaces of celebration and worship. The tour is currently traveling to over 30 cities throughout the United States. At various stops along the way, the Black Church PAC will have an onsite presence to connect with concertgoers, not only to promote the necessity of voting, but to also provide trusted resources and connection points that people can use to confirm their voter status, voting locations and more.
